"A little over a month ago, I looked in here and somebody had diarrhea real bad, missed the toilet, and there's crap all over the place. Literally," the Chair said while recounting the incident and showing intent to follow up. Committee members and range safety officers described ongoing volunteer efforts—checking cash boxes, emptying trash, and replacing consumables—but asked for county support for regular cleaning and pump‑outs when needed.
Committee members proposed a seasonal schedule—twice monthly cleanings in summer, once monthly in winter—and asked that the county's maintenance hire include restroom duties. The clerk's office described an existing key‑checkout and waiver process for supervised range users and requested copies of signed waivers be filed with the clerk.
Funding options were raised: a speaker noted the TRT board funded $42,000 this year for maintenance and approved additional funds for parks and facilities, which could offset cleaning costs. The commission agreed to arrange interim cleaning before a new maintenance hire is in place and to work with volunteers on expectations and procedures going forward.
