The Redlands Community College Board of Regents received a campus safety and security briefing from Jon Fields at the Jan. 5 meeting. Fields told the board the campus now has 142 cameras across campuses and housing, recent upgrades include parking-lot camera additions and LED parking-lot lighting replacements, and the college maintains controlled exterior door access. The college contracts with Allied Security for round-the-clock coverage and supplements that with partnerships with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Department for additional law-enforcement presence when needed.
Fields described the security staffing budget as $291,000 per year and noted that the most recent deputy assessment identified remaining gaps—particularly in parking lots—prompting ongoing upgrades. The board discussed possible alternatives for additional law-enforcement coverage if sheriff staffing remains limited, including retired corrections staff, and an ongoing plan to address remaining minor gaps.
