Murphy City Council approved an ordinance amending FY2026 general and ARPA fund transfers to repurpose $37,000 from ARP interest into capital outlay for facilities at City Hall.
Staff explained the funds will be used to modify a public-facing area — adding safety glass, new counters and furniture — to accommodate the Chamber of Commerce relocation and other front-office functions. "Tonight, we wanted to just take the 37,000 from the ARP fund transfers and transfer it to the line item for capital outlay in facilities so that they'd be able to move forward," a staff member said. Council members clarified the cost is expected to be one-time, that facility design will not return to council for approval, and that any cost overruns would require a future transfer or amendment.
The ordinance passed unanimously.
