During staff comments, the Planning Department reported that the mayor and city council approved a comprehensive plan update and that staff will spend roughly 18 months developing the updated plan and engaging the public. The plan will cover required Nevada Revised Statute elements such as conservation, historic preservation, housing, public services, transportation, recreation and a new heat-island element.
Staff asked commissioners to expect team engagement and community open houses and noted the update may be amended over time as master-plan amendments occur. Amanda Hernandez (staff) was identified as a team member working on the plan and staff welcomed commissioner participation in outreach.
