Water Sustainability Fund sees 11 applications totaling $5.76 million; CSO application ruled ineligible under new language
Summary
Staff reported 11 WSF applications totaling $5,756,766.60 (six large projects requesting $4,878,948.60; five small projects requesting $877,818.00). A Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) application is ineligible this year because LB1072e Sec. 151 limits use of transferred Nebraska Environmental Trust funds for CSO projects.
At the April 29 meeting staff reported the Water Sustainability Fund received 11 applications in the March 2026 submittal period with a combined request of $5,756,766.60.
In the Large Project category (requests over $250,000) six applications requested a total of $4,878,948.60. In the Small Project category (requests of $250,000 or less) five applications requested a total of $877,818.00. Staff also noted a Combined Sewer Overflow application was filed but is ineligible this year because LB1072e Sec. 151 amends the WSF statute to prevent the use of Nebraska Environmental Trust transfers for CSO purposes. Project status reports from active projects were due by April 1 and are available on the NRC website.
Commissioners discussed several projects during the meeting and received updates from project sponsors; no final WSF awards were made at this session.
