The North Las Vegas Planning Commission on April 8 approved a special use permit allowing MEQ Holdings LLC to build a drive-through quick-service oil-change facility at the northwest corner of Craig Road and Simmons Street. Planning staff said the 1,622-square-foot (staff) facility sits on a 0.6-acre parcel (applicant figures cited 1,585 sq ft) and recommended approval subject to landscaping conditions.
Applicant representative Lexa Green described the proposal as a “quick service oil change, where customers drive in, they stay in their vehicles, they receive their service, and then they drive out,” and said the use will be located in the southeast corner of the site with shared access. Staff’s only substantive concern was that landscaping and open-space areas were not fully shown on the plans; the commission approved the permit with the condition that all landscaping meet commercial design standards during the building-permit process. The public hearing drew no speakers and the motion to approve passed on a voice vote.
