Harpster said homeowners invested more than $5,640,000 in residential projects and businesses invested about $346,700,000 in new and existing commercial developments in 2025.
Her report listed concrete operational metrics: removal of 18 blighted structures through the Mayor’s Better Together initiative and CDBG funds; parks and recreation stewardship over 334 acres and more than 58,000 park visitors; and street repairs using roughly 7,760 tons of hot mix and 27 tons of cold mix. Councilors thanked staff and asked for follow-up on project estimates and locations. “I’m looking at what’s proposed and estimated cost… the $4,700,000 sounds like a lot of money,” Councilor Jones said, requesting further details for the 5th Ward underpass and related capital work.
Harper (sic) Harpster and council members agreed to follow up with project-specific cost estimates and timelines. The presentation ends a public accounting of 2025 achievements and sets expectations for continued infrastructure work in 2026.
