Council honors Lima Central Catholic wrestlers after state tournament showing

Lima City Council adopted Resolution 526 on first reading to congratulate Lima Central Catholic High School’s wrestling program for placing fifth at the 2026 Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament. The resolution names Antwan Adams and Jordan Neal as Division III state champions and notes Carter Lester’s third-place finish at state and later national success.
Councilors praised the team and coaches during discussion. “It is an amazingly disciplined individual sport,” Councilor Gordon said, urging recognition of the student-athletes’ commitment. After the resolution passed, the council invited the three students and their coach forward for photographs; one student told the chamber, “I just want to say thank you guys for just supporting us,” and thanked the community for enabling their training and success. The council recorded the adoption on first reading and said the commemorative resolutions will be displayed at City Hall.
