Lima City Council honors Lima Central Catholic wrestling team for state success

The Lima City Council on April 6 adopted Resolution 5-26 congratulating the Lima Central Catholic High School wrestling team for its 2025–26 season and for finishing fifth in the 2026 OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament.
Council reading of the resolution singled out Antoine Adams (division 3 state champion at 138 pounds) and Jordan Veil (consecutive state title at 144 pounds). The resolution text says the team finished with 72.5 team points. Councilors offered public praise after the reading: “It is an amazingly disciplined individual sport,” Councilor Gordon said, adding that he was “proud of what they achieved.” Several other councilors recounted personal memories and thanked coaches and families. The resolution was adopted on its first reading by voice vote.
Students and coach Caprella joined council members at the front of the chamber after the vote. Coach Caprella and the students thanked the council for the recognition; a student said the team works “95% of the year” to get results. The council said the physical resolutions will be displayed in the building and encouraged the community to celebrate the athletes.
Next steps: the resolution will appear in council records and the council indicated the certificates will be posted publicly.
