Christina Stanley, the market—s long-time operator, briefed the committee on this season—s plan for the Overland Park Farmers Market, including vendor onboarding and a dual-location transition in April and May. "Opening day will start April 18, 6 weeks away," Stanley said, and added that a ribbon-cutting and open house are planned June 5-6 to mark the market—s new space at Clock Tower Landing.
Stanley described vendor diversity, social-media storytelling and operational preparations for running markets in two locations early in the season. She said acceptance notifications went out and that vendors have overwhelmingly expressed excitement; staff will host orientations, a kickoff event and a site walk so vendors can see the new layout. Committee members praised Stanley for long-term stewardship and asked about vendor application processes and how the market helps vendors transition from stalls to brick-and-mortar businesses.
Stanley said the market maintains a wait list for some categories to preserve product diversity, and that staff are coordinating with partners such as the chamber and downtown activation teams to support vendor success. The committee did not take further action on the report; staff will continue operational planning ahead of the April opening.
