Board approves two dry-needling applications, denies one for insufficient proof

The Nevada State Board of Athletic Trainers voted on Oct. 28 to approve two applicants to perform dry needling in Nevada and to deny a third for insufficient documentation. Chair Kendell Galor summarized that applicant #181 (Balderama) submitted 27 hours of dry needling training plus 192 hours of post-graduate education and met statutory requirements; applicant #182 (Heim) supplied 27 hours of dry needling education and 174.5 post-graduate hours and likewise met requirements.
Applicant #183 (Fronken) lacked a certificate of completion and provided only a payment receipt dated 2018; the Subcommittee did not approve an attestation form and members expressed concern that the low $150 course fee and lack of verifiable details made it unlikely the training met Nevada standards. Kendell Galor moved to approve #181 and #182; Leo Lozano seconded and the motion passed. Kendell then moved to deny #183 for insufficient documentation; Jeremy Fisher seconded and the motion passed. The Board instructed staff to notify the denied applicant that she may retake an approved course and noted similar standards apply under the Nevada Physical Therapy Board.
