The Alliance City Council accepted the bid of Snyder Refuse of Lincoln, Nebraska, and awarded the contract for refuse containers at a bid price of $48,680.00 as part of Resolution No. 26-06. The resolution was included on the consent calendar and approved by unanimous roll call.
Vice Mayor Mashburn asked why Snyder was the only respondent to the solicitation. Public Works Director Grant said the city typically sends bids to three companies and "Snyder Industries is usually the only respondent." Grant added that whether the city replaces only lids and pins or whole containers "depends on the age and condition of the unit," noting older metal containers often rust and parts become unavailable.
