Rosenberg staff seeks council direction on food-truck rules as state takes over permitting

"HB 2,844... it's creating a statewide licensing system. So cities are no longer allowed to permit food trucks anymore," staff (Rico) told council, adding that local ordinances will need updates to align with the new state law and that the city can still regulate where trucks operate.
Council members discussed options including restricting trucks to construction sites and special events, allowing site-specific permits for property owners who host trucks, or banning trucks along primary corridors; several councilors favored a location-specific approach modeled after Sugar Land. Staff said they would draft ordinance language reflecting council direction for later formal consideration.
