A representative describing the Fort Bend County Emergency Services District No. 6 agreement told the council the city entered a two-year fire-service contract in September 2024 and that district leaders now seek a new three-year deal with two one-year renewal options. "Based on negotiations with the districts, the parties have agreed to an annual payment of $820,000 per the proposed agreement," the representative said.
Staff said the city had relied on the current arrangement while reconstructing Fire Station No. 1 and that, once Station 1 and Station 4 are operational, personnel will be required back in city stations. The report noted the proposed agreement includes an accompanying budget amendment, and staff placed both items on the special meeting consent agenda for formal consideration.
