Parks staff: Legacy Gardens fees, Creekside contributions could fund amenities at Creekside Park

Dan Baker, who led the presentation, said Legacy Gardens will not build a park but will contribute trail construction and fees; combined with earlier Creekside contributions, he said, “the totals a little over $1,800,000,” and that the town could “pull off” roughly “$600,000 to $700,000” in amenity funding while leaving about $1,000,000 in the park improvement fund for construction. Baker added that Creekside’s developer previously contributed about $710,000, more than the base expected amount, which helped close the funding gap.
Board members asked about park size, cost estimates for playgrounds and trail reimbursement; Baker said trail work is reimbursed at 50% per the development ordinance and that final amenity costs would depend on chosen equipment. Committee members moved and seconded the staff recommendation. The board took a visual vote and approved the item, 5-0. The parks director said the agreement will go to town council on April 28 for final action.
