Staff presented appendices to the city's 2022 parks master plan focused on the two regional parks that host community events. The presentation described phased implementation for features such as relocated playgrounds to improve sight lines, additional parking and ADA-accessible play equipment. Staff said the appendices were informed by input from the Parks Advisory Board and are intended to strengthen future grant applications.
Council members praised the plan’s attention to safety and flow, and noted features including splash pads, a planned amphitheater and additional restrooms. One council member said closing some park roads and improving sight lines would increase child safety. The council moved and unanimously approved the appendices.
