Public Works Director Veil Weems asked the council to approve an annual management agreement with the YMCA to operate the city's aquatic center. The contract of $30,000 will fund YMCA staffing, lifeguards, chemical management and security; staff recommended approval noting no substantial changes from last year's contract beyond adjusted dates.
"It is for $30,000 that the city will pay the YMCA for their operations of the pool," Veil Weems said, adding the YMCA plans a soft opening on Memorial Day weekend and a full opening after school ends when student lifeguards are available. Council asked for attendance data; Weems said the pool had "17,782 approximately" visitors last year. The council voted to approve the agreement.
