Council debated jurisdictional consistency — the city applies subdivision regulations in the ETJ while the county requires a 10‑foot landscape buffer — and whether granting a 5‑foot reduction would compromise trees or sidewalks. One council member said the difference was small and that nearby plats had used a 10‑foot landscape easement. After discussion, council voted to approve the variance; the chair reported the tally as six in favor with one absent.
