Rockwall ISD honors substitutes, UIL medalists, BPA national champions and baseball semifinalists

The Rockwall Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its June 15 meeting by recognizing several students and community partners. Joie Byram, the district’s chief human resources officer, introduced substitutes of the month and thanked the Rockwall Area Small Business Alliance for sponsoring monthly incentives for substitutes.
“It is my honor to recognize the following substitutes of the month for the 2025–26 school year,” Joie Byram said as she called the nominees to the front. The board also acknowledged representatives Trevor Johnson, Glenn Lightford and Mia Krause for their partnership.
District staff then highlighted student accomplishments at the UIL State Solo and Ensemble Contest and at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) competitions. Administrators said band, choir, orchestra and piano students from Rockwall High School and Rockwall Heath High School earned gold and silver medals at UIL state solo and ensemble. Rockwall students also advanced from state to the 2026 National Leadership Conference; multiple Rockwall teams, including a software engineering team, placed first at nationals.
The board closed the recognitions portion by congratulating the Rockwall High School baseball Yellow Jackets, who advanced to the UIL state semifinals for the first time since 2005. The district reported the team’s season record as 27–18–3 and noted the program’s District 10-6A championship.
