Murphy proclaims April Child Abuse Prevention Month; advocacy center says 47 local cases last year

Dan Powers, CEO of the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County, thanked the city for the recognition and said child abuse remains a problem in the region: "Last year there were 47 cases from the city of Murphy," he told council, and he described the center's work providing forensic interviews, therapy and family advocacy at no cost to families. Council members responded with thanks and brief personal remarks in support of the center's work.
