Council approves crossing agreement for Sienna Parkway/McKeever bridge project; bid ~ $3.5M, TERS covers ~$1.8M

Mustafa Albasan, the city’s director of public works, and consultants from LJA presented a design and funding plan for the McKeever Bridge expansion and turn-lane additions on Sienna Parkway. "The item in front of you this evening is, 26Dash185. It's basically a cross access agreement between the Gulf Coast Water Authority and the city," Albasan said, explaining the crossing/right-of-entry agreement required so construction crews can access canal-owned property.
Noe Escobar of LJA described the proposed traffic changes and construction approach and said the bid came in at about $3.5 million. "The TERS is covering about 1,800,000 of it and then the delta...the management district would cover the remainder," Escobar said. Staff and council discussed mitigation measures during construction — the contractor will maintain two through lanes during work and restricted hours/night work will be used to minimize peak-hour impacts. Council voted to authorize the mayor to sign the Gulf Coast Water Authority application and related crossing agreement; the motion carried unanimously.
