Hunters Glen Jogging Trail to get $2 million for concrete conversion and bridge work

Danielle, Parks department staff, told the board that the Hunters Glen Jogging Trail renovation has $2,000,000 in combined funding — $1,000,000 from the 2021 bond and a matching $1,000,000 HGAC grant — enabling conversion of the decomposed-granite path to an 8-foot concrete trail and replacement of a timber bridge on the south end.
She said the city held a design kickoff and will pursue an internal design to meet vehicle maintenance standards. “That brings together $2,000,000 for this project, which allows us to also fix the bridge on that south side,” Danielle said. Board members asked about service disruptions and the choice of concrete versus pervious alternatives; staff said they are also evaluating lower-impact synthetic surfaces for some natural-park segments but are prioritizing concrete here for durability and accessibility.
