The council approved a set of agreements allowing local nonprofit and youth sports organizations (including the Boys & Girls Club of the Permian Basin, Midland Soccer Association, Midland Junior Baseball Association, Midland Softball Association, YMCA of Midland and others) to administer recreational programs and use city‑owned parks and facilities.
Lori Williams, the Parks & Recreation Director, explained that the agreements define what each organization will provide, the seasons covered and which parks will be used. She told council the agreements are standard practice to support youth and adult sports programs. Council moved the item forward and voted 5–0 to approve the agreements.
City staff said a number of supporters registered in favor; no substantive objections were raised during the meeting.
