One 4B member said, “I have a problem with this extra $130,000, adding to that,” and another said that being asked to pay after the fact “doesn't seem like our responsibility at this point.” Staff explained that SISD elected to complete the full fence and netting and that the town’s requested share represents a portion (about one‑third) of that larger cost; staff said the requested town portion is roughly $85,000 for fencing plus about $45,000 for netting, which together were described as the $130,000 request.
Board members voted to remove or defer the $130,000 from the budget amendment and asked staff to notify the district of the board’s position and attempt to negotiate a lower amount or a different cost allocation. No SISD representative addressed the board during the meeting. Staff said that if the board declines to fund the request, the school district will remain responsible for the additional work.
