SERC defers TRI invoicing software purchase; staff point to grant funding streams for training

At its Jan. 22 quarterly meeting the Nevada State Emergency Response Commission reiterated that a previously approved purchase of TRI invoicing software must proceed through state procurement and IT channels rather than a direct vendor purchase.
"We found out later on this isn't like our type of how do you wanna say? A customer. You just can't go out and buy the software. We have to go through the budget process and procure the software properly and then have it installed by state IT," Chair Richard Brenner said. Staff said they will pursue the procurement through the budget process rather than making an immediate purchase.
The Commission also reviewed grant opportunities to support SERC operations. Kelly Hutter said the United We Stand grant will offer $32,000 per award and the SERC OPTE grant provides $36,000 per application (roughly $32,000 for equipment/training and $4,000 for operations). Staff said they are working with fiscal to assemble quotes and include these needs in the July budget cycle.
