Nevada adds 100-pound CO2 tank threshold to hazardous-materials reporting

The Nevada State Fire Marshal announced that businesses must now report CO2 tanks of 100 pounds or more in the state's hazardous materials system; the reporting window runs Jan. 20–March 1 and updated company lists will be available after March 1.
Nicole Hoekstra, speaking for the Nevada State Fire Marshal's hazardous materials program, told the SERC on Jan. 22 that the state's hazardous-materials reporting system rolled over Jan. 20 and is accepting submissions through March 1.
"We do have new requirement for LEPCs to be aware of in the hazardous materials system, which is we are requiring a 100 pounds or more of the CO2 tanks to be reported for now on," Hoekstra said. She added that new companies that submit will appear in the system after the March 1 deadline and that training schedules are being developed by the Training Office.
Several county representatives asked clarifying questions about access to the updated lists and the submission window. Hoekstra replied that after March 1 counties will be able to download new company information and that staff will continue outreach and inspections as needed.
