Commissioner Lickdy, who has led the project, told the court the monument funds for purchase have been raised privately and that volunteers have formed a committee to manage the dedication. "We have a VIP reception at 2:00 and the unveiling ceremony scheduled for 3 to 4," Lickdy said, and noted staff are coordinating with the farmers-market schedule and sheriff's office events the afternoon of May 23.
The landscaping plan discussed includes decomposed granite base, site lighting and two stone benches; bids were reviewed and commissioners asked staff to finalize the scope. Commissioner Stacy moved to authorize installation and the landscaping expenditure up to $11,000; the motion passed 5–0. The court heard that ceremony expenses are being funded by donations and that staff will coordinate site access and vendor notifications.
