The City Council on April 1 adopted Resolutions 2,747, 2,748 and 2,750 to amend bylaws for several boards and commissions and reduce the required number of annual meetings. Assistant City Manager Rebecca Gibson told the council the review was directed to measure efficiencies and that the recommended reductions could save the city over $50,000 per year by eliminating some meeting costs.
Gibson explained that each facilitated meeting costs the city roughly $4,000 and that reducing required frequencies across multiple boards would yield savings while allowing special meetings when needs arise. Council members discussed alternatives such as moving some committees to a quarterly schedule; a motion to adopt the resolutions passed on voice votes.
