Council approves revised QuickTrip convenience store and gas station plan

The Midlothian City Council on April 28 approved amendments to PD‑179 to allow a QuickTrip convenience store and gas station on a 1.07‑acre site near West Main Street and the US‑67 southbound service road, voting 7–0.
Miriam Spencer, assistant director of planning, summarized revisions the applicant made since the March hearing: added a loading zone, reduced the number and size of signage elements, adjusted elevations with additional architectural articulation and reworked landscaping and screening along Highway 67 so pump islands are better screened. Spencer said those changes addressed staff, Planning & Zoning and council concerns and that staff now supported the variances as revised.
Brandon Osmheimer, company representative, said QuickTrip had worked closely with staff and the council and was prepared to answer questions. Brandon Osmheimer: "The collaboration has worked very well" in refining the design and site plan.
Council members praised the applicant’s responsiveness to prior requests and approved the PD amendment and associated variances unanimously. The motion passed 7–0.
The approval permits the developer to finalize building plans and return for permit issuance subject to the approved site plan and any standard permitting conditions.
