Jobson Park update: design near completion, $10M OPCC and conservative Dec. 2027 timeline

Tommy presented an update on the Jobson Park project, saying the design team delivered 95% construction documents in February and the project should reach 100% this week. Tommy characterized current opinion of probable construction cost (OPCC) as "still sitting in that approximate $10,000,000 range," and said the town expects to put the work out to bid later in the month to prepare for potential construction in mid‑to‑late summer with a conservative completion target of December 2027.
Council members pressed staff about schedule and cost. One council member said there was "a lot of frustration in Sunnyvale about the amount of time that it's taking to complete this project," and asked whether the timeline could be expedited; Tommy responded that the construction timeline presented was conservative and that options could be returned to council in late June or early July. Another council member noted the town has "under $7,500,000 spent" on the project to date and that the town has spent about "$2,800,000 of those bond proceeds," flagging the need to consider budget tradeoffs and possible design reductions to meet budget constraints.
Town Manager Danette Garcia said she has been briefed on the project and will work with staff to explore expediting options. Staff indicated they will prepare choices and forecast budget impacts for a future council meeting or work session.
