City staff introduced a pilot "Senior Well" program designed to provide daily wellness checks for isolated older residents and to surface larger social‑service needs to the city's Culture & Engagement office. The staff presenter, who identified themselves as the community service connections coordinator, said the program would be volunteer led with an orientation, documentation protocols, and coordination with community partners including Meals on Wheels and emergency services.
"One of the things we were thinking was developing a program which would be, kind of coordinate with our office, but it would be led by a group of volunteers that would make daily phone calls to seniors that sign up for the program," the coordinator said. Council members expressed support, asked about outreach and cross‑generational volunteer opportunities, and staff said they would gather participants through word‑of‑mouth, social media and partner events and would require emergency contact information in case of nonresponse.
