Director Braverman summarized the Van Aken Bikeway project and said the city received a $1.5 million NOACA grant with a local match of $610,000; the project could total up to $2.3 million. "In order to locally administer an ODOT project, the city must enter into an LPA," Braverman told council, noting prior committee reviews and recommendations for approval.
Council Member Moore spoke on the project's sustainability benefits and acknowledged concerns about lane and parking reductions and traffic impacts along Van Aken; she asked for traffic analysis follow-up. Finance and Safety & Public Works committee members reported unanimous support. Council voted to suspend rules and enact the LPA authorization so the project can proceed on schedule for bidding in October 2026 and construction in 2027.
