Septic-to-sewer program launches online lookup tool; Pace Water System to lead first phase

Jacobs Engineering briefed the Restore Council on the Deepwater Horizon septic-to-sewer conversion program and demonstrated a live project-area lookup tool that lets a user enter an address to see whether it falls inside a project area and who the utility provider is. A Jacobs presenter said the lookup site and related outreach materials (door hangers, postcards, FAQs) will be available on the county website and that most construction costs will be grant-funded though connection and impact fees vary by utility.
Project manager representatives said subrecipient agreements have been completed for three or four utility partners; Pace Water System is positioned to lead the initial work and is expected to go to bid on the first part of the project in October. Samantha Pitts, the estuary program's education outreach manager, said the estuary program will help with notifications, town halls and targeted outreach, and may coordinate neighborhood-level updates with utility partners through platforms such as Nextdoor.
