Rockwall library survey: 439 respondents show strong usage and support for expansion

Heather Beegler, president of the Rockwall County Library Advisory Board, presented results of a community survey conducted to inform the library's next five-year plan. The survey drew 439 respondents, Beegler said, with roughly 75% saying they visit the library at least monthly and about one-third visiting weekly. Respondents asked consistently for more programs, materials and space; the advisory board said about two-thirds of respondents support expanding the current facility or adding locations, and roughly 70% indicated willingness to support funding, with 85% of that group open to a bond.
Beegler said many respondents provided written comments praising staff and noting the library serves as a low-cost community refuge. Commissioners praised the survey turnout, especially given the advisory board conducted the outreach with little budget, and said the results will inform long-term planning and capital decisions. "We love the library; these wants are built on consistent positive experiences," Beegler said during her presentation.
