The Plainview City Council approved a memorandum of agreement with Wayland Baptist University for the operation and maintenance of a driving range on city land at Running Water Draw near Kirschwood Drive. The city manager said the agreement is not for funds but for Wayland to maintain the range and keep it open for public use.
The manager described the proposed driving range as roughly 400 yards in length and said the site provides more room than the current range; Wayland would also coordinate schedules and maintenance. Councilmember Rascon moved to enter into the agreement and Councilmember Dickerson seconded; the council voted unanimously to approve the agreement. Staff said no immediate additional development (such as large nets or funded improvements) is planned at this time.
