The Commissioner's Court voted 5–0 to approve a temporary displacement plan to move administrative personnel out of the sheriff's office while phase 2 of the remodel proceeds, a move Commissioner Stacy said could accelerate the schedule and potentially save $80,000–$150,000 on contract costs.
"So we are trying to get basically a jump start so that we can get the project back on or accelerate the finish," Commissioner Stacy said, explaining possible temporary locations such as the auditor's old office, the new courthouse spaces, or other county facilities. He said patrol functions would remain in place and that administrative staff movement would be temporary and coordinated with the sheriff and the DA.
Project manager Nico updated the court on construction sequencing and noted a critical crane day planned for March 26 and ongoing procurement for electrical gear, storefront glass, furniture and AC cassette work. Commissioners discussed security impacts of temporary relocations and timing; staff said they expected the displacement to last approximately 60 days with a goal of returning personnel as finishes came available.
The court's vote authorizes staff to proceed with temporary relocations and directs coordination to minimize operational disruption during construction.
