Several board members asked staff to evaluate how other cities structure neighborhood beautification grants and to draft a Sunnyvale program that could support HOAs and non-HOA communities for erosion, drainage and common-area improvements.
"If the board would like to direct staff to do that, we can come back with some potential ideas and come back at the next meeting," Town Manager Ms. Garcia said, offering to research models, appropriate grant amounts and feasibility. Board members also proposed additional event programming — including an ice-skating rink — as a means to increase attendance at holiday events; staff said they would provide cost estimates and options for one- or two-day formats and coordination with the school district for children's participation.
The board compiled a list of follow-ups for the next meeting: an ice-rink cost estimate, neighborhood-grant parameters (HOA and non-HOA), additional children's activities and year-to-date budget actuals. Staff agreed to return with proposals and numeric backup to inform final budget decisions.
