Parents and staff urge Stafford MSD board to review daycare staff termination

Several parents and a teacher told the Stafford Municipal School District board they were deeply concerned about the abrupt departure of a beloved Early Childhood Center staff member and asked the board to review the personnel decision.
Michelle Benson, who identified herself as both a Stafford MSD employee and a parent, described the worker as a daily, comforting presence for her child and said the staffer''s sudden absence changed her daughter's morning routine. "I am both a Stafford MSD employee and a Stafford parent...I trusted Miss Delsport and the ECC staff so deeply that I rarely felt the need to even check the classroom cameras," Benson said, urging the board to "take time to review the opportunity to return" the staffer to the ECC.
Teacher and parent Joycelyn Bennett and parent Emily Segura echoed Benson's concerns, noting the staffer''s positive day-to-day impact and saying a December investigation had been found false. "Although allegations were made that resulted in a state investigation, those allegations were found to be false. Despite that outcome, Miss Britney still lost her position," Segura said, and asked the board to consider parents' voices and grant a review of the termination. Board members and district counsel responded that personnel matters limit what can be disclosed in open session but offered to have administration meet with families to hear concerns and to place the matter on a future agenda if needed.
