At the March 9 special meeting the City Council took three formal procedural actions: it moved two zoning amendments to first reading and it authorized the administration to select a retail electric supplier for the city's aggregation program.
Council moved the first ordinance (outdoor recreation facilities in institutional zoning) on first reading (motion moved by Mr. Malone) and moved the second ordinance (minimum lot coverage in commercial mixed‑use districts) on first reading (motion moved by Ms. Carmela Williams). Both items will return for subsequent readings and public notice.
On the electric aggregation item council voted to grant the administration flexibility to accept the best offer obtained through the ongoing RFP and to enter into a contract effective June 1. The motion (moved by Mr. Changelis and seconded by Ms. Bixenstein) was called for suspension and enactment; the clerk recorded Aye votes by Changelis, Kauss, Malone, Moore, Carmela Williams and Bixenstein. The vote passed and staff will finalize contract terms and provide REC documentation to council before implementation.
