Treasurer reports tax-sale progress; court hearing set for June 10 on disputed parcels

County Treasurer Mary Rose updated the commission that the 2021 tax sale process has reached the disbursement phase: buyers received sheriff's deeds and the district court transmitted payments for redeemed properties. She said the county is awaiting judge approval on a journal entry before completing disbursements and that a hearing has been scheduled for June 10, 2026, because some parcel owners or lienholders (through counsel) refused to sign the required journal entry documents.

Rose explained that the legal process must run its course before the county can schedule a new tax sale and that the completed sale that began in 2016 is now in the final processing stage. Commissioners acknowledged the delay and asked the treasurer to return with final figures when the disbursement process is complete.
