Road & Bridge warns hiring a Sexton could reduce operators available for maintenance

"That means we would be down another operator," the supervisor said, adding the Sexton position is paid through a different fund so it would not reduce the Road & Bridge payroll budget but would reduce available operators for some field work. Staff proposed mitigating the shortfall by assigning non‑blading day tasks (route maintenance, culvert cleaning and plant work) and said they have spare blade sets to help cover storm responses. Commissioners acknowledged the tradeoff and asked staff to return with a staffing plan if the hire proceeds.
