"We have been awarded 91,023," Chief Miller said, and emphasized the grant is fully funded with no local match required. He outlined planned uses including school education, a pill take-back program and partnerships with nearby jurisdictions and the Rosa Clark Center to provide treatment referrals.
Miller also described plans for a monthly Narcan distribution to help prevent overdoses and for placing pill-collection containers at city locations. The grant also includes some equipment purchases (a truck and an RTV) to support outreach and field response.
Council members voiced support for the department’s approach; the council approved grant acceptance as part of the meeting business.
