The Waller County Commissioners Court approved the meeting agenda and a series of motions covering proclamations, appointments, grants, procurement and land‑use items at its May 27 session.
The court pulled items 8, 13 and 14 from the consent agenda for separate consideration; item 8 passed with one recorded abstention and items 13 and 14 (a governor’s enterprise fund nomination and reauthorization of the Waller County Jordan Ranch reinvestment zone) carried after staff explanations. A public hearing and final approval were held for a partial replat of Veil Sagara Section 2 (applicant: Enclave Gassner Track LLC). Ross, county engineering staff, said the replat creates Cadlin Drive and Green Juniper Way and that “from a technical standpoint, just a general overall, everything meets our standards.”
On infrastructure, the court amended a road‑bond project to add roughly 1,500 feet to provide continuity between Prairie View and the City of Waller; county staff and commissioners discussed right‑of‑way and potential developer contributions. The sheriff’s office will receive a $7,000 donation from Waller County Crime Stoppers to purchase a polygraph machine; a sheriff’s office representative said the agency already has a licensed polygraph examiner and estimated outside testing would cost $300–$500 per instance.
County IT and public‑safety systems also moved forward: commissioners approved a package to migrate criminal‑justice and court systems to Tyler’s enterprise, cloud‑based products (items 35–36) and authorized replacement of two servers and related components (item 37). Greg, county IT staff, told the court the enterprise product will “eliminate the need for local servers” and provide centralized licensure and updates. The court approved several grant and interlocal items, including ratification of a Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority application, a SCAP grant reimbursement request for housing undocumented persons in jail, and an interlocal agreement with the City of Prairie View to cover an estimated generator project overrun.
Several procurement items were approved, including a five‑year Axon taser agreement for Constable Precinct 4 and a two‑month construction engineering and inspection supplement for the Riley Road bridge work. Insurance renewals covering public‑officials liability and property were approved after an amendment; staff warned of premium increases tied in part to the new courthouse. The court adjourned into executive session at 10:22 a.m.
