Carolyn Miedtke, Waller County’s tax assessor-collector, presented the March 2026 collections report on April 29, saying, "the collections for Waller County was 1,600,000, and our total collections for all the jurisdictions that we collect for were 4,400,000." She told the court the office will mail 33/07–33/08 notices next week to property owners who have not paid to give them time to pay before accounts are turned over to collection attorneys on July 1.
Following the presentation, commissioners and staff discussed recent public concern about agricultural (ag) exemption acreage amounts. The judge clarified that the county tax assessor/collector does not set ag-exemption acreage and directed residents concerned about changes to bring comments to the Waller County Appraisal District, which is scheduled to meet May 5 and May 8 to consider related matters. "Please make sure the appraisal district knows your position," the judge said when urging public engagement.
