Deputy Director of IT Laurie Sanchez updated the commission on AIMS usage, recent enhancements and current technical risks.
Sanchez said that since AIMS initial implementation in September 2021, ‘‘there have been more than 3,700,000 original applications submitted, 136,000 renewal applications, 119 product registration applications, and approximately 58,058 account business transactions.’’ She described phase‑3 challenges—development quality, vendor QA/testing and impacts from a statewide change in the electronic payment provider—which required changes to the AIMS point‑of‑sale and hardware integration.
Sanchez said the program prioritized a minimum viable product (MVP) with core industry and staff functionality, and that remaining MVP items include enforcement enhancements (violation‑code management and settlement updates), compliance‑reporting improvements tied to legislative changes, excise‑tax reporting improvements and internal management tooling (edit/delete, work item management). She publicly thanked staff and vendor teams for ongoing work and noted the executive team meets regularly with the vendor to address issues.
Commissioners offered brief thanks and no immediate action was taken; Sanchez closed by thanking the staff and ending the presentation.
