Council approves Blueberry Festival parade permits, banners and noise waivers

Brian Moore, representing the Blueberry Festival Committee, asked the Council for permits and waivers for this summer’s festival, including a parade at 9:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20 (Walnut Drive to Community Park Drive) and a 2:00 p.m. parade Sunday, Aug. 23 (from Lexington High School to Community Park via Clever, Frederick and Plymouth streets). He also requested permission to hang OhioHealth banners along the right-of-way between Plymouth Street and the ballfields, using the same design as 2023, and a noise ordinance waiver for Aug. 20–22, 2026. Moore said the banners "will be removed Sunday night or Monday morning August 24th."
Councilman Michael Benson moved to approve the festival requests; Councilwoman Kim Little seconded the motion. The roll call vote was unanimous (yeas 6, nays 0) and the Council approved the permits, banner placement, and noise-waiver request. The motion was recorded as passing without amendment or condition.
