Council adopts Safe Routes to School resolution to pursue Fox Road sidewalks with ODOT support

The Lexington Village Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 26-07 authorizing the mayor or administrative director to prepare and execute an application for Safe Routes to School funds and to enter into a contract with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Councilman Robert Kelley moved adoption and Councilman Kim Little seconded; prior to adoption the Council waived the standing-committee requirement and the two-reading requirement by roll call votes.
During discussion Council referenced funding sources for the Fox Road sidewalk project and noted that a partner identified as "KEM" would be providing about a half-million dollars toward the village portion, with other funding sources to be researched so the village cost may be minimal. The resolution was described to the body as the Fox Road sidewalk project and was approved by a 6–0 roll-call vote.
