Council approves Menorah display in Community Park for Dec. 1422, 2025

Council voted to allow a Menorah at Community Park from Dec. 14 through Dec. 22, 2025 after a request from resident Ben Mutti. The motion by Councilmember Keith Bacin, seconded by Jeff O’Brien, passed by roll call (Yeas 7). Administrator Peter Them confirmed a disclaimer will be posted near the display.
Village Law Director John Studenmund explained the limits of local authority, saying the Village can set timing and location but "cannot authorize the content." The council did not object to any of the village's liquor license holders, which the mayor had earlier noted will be renewed by the Department of Commerce on Feb. 1, 2026.
