TDOT to integrate 511 with rural service patrols; committee approves amendment

Natalie Christoff, deputy commissioner and chief financial officer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, requested approval of an amendment to TDOT's 511 traveler information system contract to align contract terms with the payment methodology originally intended, add renewal options and add approximately $100,000 to integrate 511 with a new rural service patrol system. Christoff said the amendment brings the contract's maximum liability to about $700,164 and that the contract is funded with roughly 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
Representative Bridal suggested the department promote 511 more so motorists know the service is available for assistance. The committee moved, seconded and approved the amendment.
