Committee approves extension and funding increase for Lifeset program helping youth aging out of care

Hayes O'Donnell of the Department of Children's Services presented Amendment to the sole‑source Youth Villages Lifeset contract (Contract 77761), which the department said is set to expire on June 30, 2026. O'Donnell told the committee the amendment reduces certain FY2024–25 annual liabilities, increases the maximum liability by $5,679,000 for a new maximum of $23,615,250, and funds services for approximately 465 young people annually.
"Lifeset has helped more than 34,495 young people aging out of state custody or other care agreements successfully transitioning them to independence," O'Donnell said, summarizing the program's history and goals. The committee moved, seconded and approved the amendment on a voice vote with no additional questions recorded.
